Welcome to Rittenhop.org 2.0
Upcoming Events
Just a quick note about upcoming events before I talk about the website
- Fri. Oct 25: Spooky Rittenhop at Spruce st. Harbor with live band: Ben Cohen & The Collaboration. 6-7pm Lindy 101 lesson. 8-10pm social dance.
- Fri. Nov 8: Indoor dance at Summit Presbyterian Church in Mt. Airy with live band: Parlour Noir
To show all events, we're experimenting with using a public Notion Calendar for now. We may switch to Google Calendar feed or something custom in the future.
New Website
Ben & Braden have been hard at work building the new version of this website. In addition to the fancy new design, we have some new features we're excited about:
- Newsletter: Any time we post to this website, you can receive an email update, RSS feed update (k, nerd), or see the posts in announcements channel of the Rittenhop Discord or Jazz Attack Discord. We're still figuring out the post format, but the idea right now is to do a weekly roundup including a cute Rittenhop photo, special event notices, and weekly scheduling/jam notices.
- Givebutter donation embed: Unlike most of our dance scene counterparts, we have no regular income. To help us maintain our gear, book live bands, bribe legal enforcement, and more, we would appreciate if you'd throw us some cold hard cash. If you ask really nicely, we might throw in a hat, or stickers. Thank you for your contribution to help us stay sustainable as Philadelphia's only free, outdoor, weekly Lindy Hop swing dance.
- Notion Calendar: Sadly we can't embed the calendar here because Notion sucks, but you can visit the Rittenhop Calendar to view upcoming special events like live band Rittenhop, Spruce st. Harbor dances, Manayunk dances, etc. We may update the technology in the future, to integrate more directly with this website, but we're gonna walk before we run.
- More cute photos: Yes, yes I know the old site wasn't especially attractive, but hey at least it loaded instantly on a Blackberry!! 😁 In any case, there are lots of fantastic photos of Rittenhop, and they deserved a public place online. For all the folks that bring fancy cameras and stop by, we'd love to be able to share some of their work here as well.
- Contact Form: In hopes of attracting local partnerships or sponsors, and creating a gentler front door for traveling dancers, our new contact form is ready to receive your carefully crafted messages of positive intent. If you have website feedback or suggestions, feel free to leave it here as well. If you want comment sections on all update posts, or a neopets integration, let us know.
We'll see you soon, in the square!
