Summer Jam Session led by Katie Neary!

Last month we hosted a jam session during the dance and had an awesome turnout of both jazz musicians and lindy hop dancers! We're gonna keep this going, so here's how it works: Katie's house band will get the dance started at 1:30, and musicians can jump in and out of the session between songs.

If you're a musician, try to plan a few songs ahead of time you might want to call, so that dancers don't have to wait as long between tunes while the personnel changes.

Hot tip if you're a less experienced musician, our attendance increases throughout the day, so come on the earlier side if you're nervous! I also recommend the iReal app for having a library of jazz charts at your fingertips. It's an inexpensive one-time payment.

Please feel free to bring a horn, and jump in on the session!

Who's leading the session?

Katie Neary will be leading this week's session. She led the June session, she's performed for Rittenhop leading her own band, at Jazz Town recently with Olivia Perrin's band, and with the Temple Lab Band at Jazz Attack. She's also been playing some great shows in Jazz clubs around philly.
